Changing face of the Bar
The Bar is undergoing a period of change and adaptation in order to meet the needs of a developing legal system. We believe that our Client’s interests are best served by increasing specialisation and providing a high quality local service on competitive terms and tailored to the specific needs of the Client.
The most recent change is the introduction of New Standard Contractual Terms. These came into force on 31st January 2013 and amend the Code of Conduct of the Bar Council of England and Wales. With the approval of the Legal Services Board and the Bar Standards Board (BSB), the regulatory body for barristers in England and Wales, new Standard Contractual Terms will replace the existing Terms of Work on which the Barristers offer their Services and the Withdrawal of the Credit Scheme (for new instructions received after 31st January 2013).
Unless specifically notified, the members of Heavenwood Chambers will only, where relevant, accept instructions under the terms of the Bar Council Standard Contractual Terms of the Bar Council Standard Contractual Terms (see below).
