About us

Heavenwood, the Chambers of Miss K M Smoker, was established in 2003 primarily based upon the licensing and employment practice of the head of chambers and the general civil and commercial practice of Senior Counsel Richard Jones.

Whereas the core services provided by Barristers in Chambers will inevitably be focused upon litigation, we recognise the need to broaden the scope of the services traditionally offered by Counsel in the wider field of “alternative dispute resolution”. We also recognise the need to become more accessible, responsive and flexible in the way that we provide support to our Instructing Solicitors and Licensed Access Clients.

In short, we aim to react and respond to the changing needs of a modern legal system while still retaining the core skills and disciplines that underpin the Bar Council Code of Conduct and the traditional role of Counsel.
